A different kind of pilates studio.

We are deliberately small. No mirrored walls, no music playlists chasing the beat. Just precise teaching, soft natural light, and the time to actually feel each movement.

No. 01

Six clients per class, never more

Every reformer class caps at six. Your teacher learns your body — your tight hip, your sore knee, the way your breath changes near the end. You get the corrections you actually need.

No. 02

Classical training, modern care

Our teachers hold 600-hour comprehensive certifications and continue training every year. We follow the classical reformer repertoire while paying attention to what your body needs today, this week, this stage of life.

No. 03

A studio that actually feels calm

Natural light, wooden floors, terracotta walls, plants. No flashing screens, no shouted counts. The room is built to let you breathe — and we keep the temperature, the volume, and the pace exactly there.

A pilates reformer in our warm studio

Built by people who needed this kind of studio.

Slow Studio opened in 2019 because we couldn't find what we were looking for. The other studios in the city were either crowded reformer factories with stopwatch energy, or sleepy mat classes that never quite challenged us. We wanted both — precision and warmth, intensity and care.

So we built it. Six reformers, soft natural light, classical teaching, no upsells. Our founder still teaches the 7 a.m. class on Tuesdays.

"Movement is medicine when you do it slowly enough to listen."

Most of our regulars came on a friend's recommendation and stayed for years. Many of them have never been to another studio since. That is the kind of place we are.

Four formats, all quietly intense.

Each class runs 55 minutes. All levels welcome — your teacher will adapt the work to where your body is on the day.

Mat Foundation

Beginner-friendly

The mat repertoire, taught slowly. We use small props — a magic circle, a soft ball, light hand weights — to find the deep core engagement that makes everything else easier. Recommended starting point.

Reformer Flow

Intermediate

A continuously flowing reformer sequence — no long pauses, no resets between exercises. Builds cardiovascular work into the classical repertoire without ever sacrificing form. Sweat without the noise.

Restore & Release

Slow & gentle

Slow, supported work on the reformer combined with myofascial release using a small ball or soft roller. For tight hips, sore necks, stressful weeks. Often the best class to take the day before a big run or long flight.

What people say after three months.

We ask new clients to give themselves three months before deciding whether the work is for them. Here are notes from three who stayed.

"My back stopped hurting"

I came in with chronic lower-back pain after years at a desk. After about ten reformer classes the pain was simply gone, and I haven't felt it since. I keep coming because of how I feel afterwards, but the pain relief was what got me through the door.

"Finally a studio that isn't intimidating"

I had tried two other studios and felt totally lost — everyone was already there with their water bottles and their precise movements. At Slow Studio the teacher actually walked me through the reformer setup before class. I felt human, not stupid.

"My runs got faster"

I came for the core work, hoping it would help with running posture. Six months in, my marathon time dropped by twelve minutes and a hip issue that had been nagging for years has fully resolved. I am genuinely a better athlete because of one hour a week here.

The things we get asked the most.

If something isn't covered below, just write to us — we read every message and respond within a day.

Absolutely. Most of our long-term members started here as complete beginners. We recommend the Mat Foundation class first — it teaches the breathing patterns and core engagement that make everything else easier. Or book a private intro session and we'll walk you through the reformer one-on-one before any group class.
Fitted athletic wear — loose clothing catches in the springs. Grip socks are required for reformer classes (we sell them at the front desk for $18 if you don't have a pair). Bring water; everything else, including mats, towels, and small props, is provided.
Most clients notice changes in posture and core engagement within three to four classes. Visible body changes typically take six to eight weeks of consistent practice (two or three classes per week). Pilates rewards consistency much more than intensity — slow, steady practice produces the best results.
Often yes, and pilates is frequently part of recovery. Tell us about the injury when you book, and we'll match you with the right teacher and class. We work alongside physiotherapists and chiropractors and are happy to coordinate with yours if useful. For acute injuries, please get clearance from your physician first.
Yes, any time, for any length. Travel, busy weeks at work, recovery from illness — let us know and we'll pause the membership from the date you ask. No fee, no minimum length. We restart it whenever you're ready.
Cancel more than 12 hours before your class and the credit returns to your account automatically. Within 12 hours, the class is forfeited — we are a small studio and the spot can't usually be filled in time. We make exceptions for genuine emergencies; just email us.

Come and try a class.

Drop us a message and we'll get back within a day. Or just call — we have a phone, and someone usually picks it up between classes.
